Research

Natural phenomena and materials are a source for our research. New compounds are modeled and designed at the precision of one atom or even an orbital. Our researchers are continuously inventing and developing new methods to produce these compounds. The results from this type of research are the new chemical compounds applicable in both materials sciences and biomedical applications. Observation and measurements are also important in our research and new, sensitive, as well as accurate, analysis methods are developed. Development of the production methods also considers the entire life cycle of the molecule from raw material into product and further into recycling. Our department applies the principles of sustainability and green chemistry. Our graduates find their niche as specialists and researchers both in the academic field as well as in various industries, e.g. chemical, medicinal, material, electronics and energy industries.
